Another worthy entry in the affordable, versatile, family fish boat category is Sea Pro’s 225FLX, a smaller version of the company’s 24-foot “sandbar boat,” an offshore-capable center-console with dry-riding deep-V hull paired with the seating and amenities of a deckboat. Young families will love this 22-foot trailerable single outboard dayboat that makes great use of space.

Start with the versatile cockpit seating. The helm leaning post folds out to provide seating for two, then reverses to face seating for four across the transom. The outer transom seats also reverse to face aft, a good spot for spotting the person on the other end of the standard tow pylon bar.
What really makes this boat at home at the sandbar is a small, articulated, swiveling table that inserts into a special transom mount to provide a platform for food and drinks while standing waist-deep in water.
The biggest family-friendly surprise may be the large console Sea Pro stuck on this small boat – the industry’s only full pumpout head and freshwater sink on a 22-foot center-console (according to the manufacturer).
But Sea Pro builds fishing boats first and foremost, and the 225FLX doesn’t skimp, with under-gunwale rod storage, stainless steel gunwale rocket launchers, additional hardtop rod holders (that nicely stow float toys), bow tackle storage, and 47-gallon capacity in bow and stern cooler boxes.
The helm is anchored by a 9-inch Simrad touchscreen MFD tied to a thru-hull transducer, with standard sound system and power steering. Sea Pro builds its own powder-coated fiberglass hard tops, bow rails, and upholstery in-house, and the quality shows these are not cookie-cutter add-ons. Sea Pro says its foam-filled fiberglass stringer system makes the 225FLX “unsinkable.” Power options, either 200- or 250-hp, include Mercury, Suzuki, and Yamaha.
