LAGRANGE, Ga. July 17, 2025 – Capt. Greg Williams and Capt. Reed Dills have been friends since 6th grade, went to the same high school, and even attended the same college and joined the same fraternity. Now, after more than two decades of careers in the automobile tire and logistics industries respectively, the 50-year-olds have opened TowBoatUS West Point Lake, Georgia. The company provides 24/7, professional on-water towing and assistance service for recreational boaters and is part of a nationwide TowBoatUS fleet of more than 300 locations.

“Growing up together in Ringgold, Georgia, we’ve been through both hardship and good times, and we have been all over the place with our careers,” says Williams. “We’re excited to now be partners opening TowBoatUS West Point Lake.”

Said Dills: “We’re looking forward to helping boaters get home safely when their boats break down, and we hope to make a positive impact on the West Point Lake community.”

Williams and Dills got their start in the boating business about six years ago doing vessel recovery on the side, working in crews salvaging hurricane-damaged boats. “With the experience we gained, it made sense for us to take the next step and open a TowBoatUS port,” added Dills. A friend on West Point Lake told them the lake needed a 24/7 boat-towing service, making the last connection.

TowBoatUS Westpoint Lake has a 21-foot red response vessel fully rigged for towing and salvage homeported at Highland Pines Marina.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for freshwater boaters and anglers for just $109 per year. Services include on-water towing, soft ungrounding, battery jump and fuel-drop offs. Membership comes with more than 25 valuable BoatUS benefits, including discounts at local fuel docks and transient slips at marinas. Also included are a subscription to BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

Separate from BoatUS on-water towing, the company also offers boat salvage, spill cleanup and dive services.

To request on-water assistance, boaters can call the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869, call TowBoatUS West Point Lake directly at 423-260-3780, or hail on VHF radio Ch. 16.
